Is the Earth's molten outer core bright?

Pardon my ignorance on the subject but wouldn't the intense heat and friction generate some form of light? Or would there have to be pockets of gas or something to actually ignite? Would there be any way to observe this without altering the surrounding magma? To me, it seems like one of those "if a tree falls in the woods" scenarios but I don't really have enough knowledge on the subject. hAlp pl0x!
