Explain why many mountains contain sedimentary rocks even though subduction leads to magma formation and the f?

On plate boundaries, subduction may occur and the sedimentary rocks will be dissolved (magma formation). However the plate which rises above the subducting one will remain above the surface and the sedimentary layers will remain intact. It is this plate which may form a mountain range.
