How do young earth creationists explain Magnetic Polar Shifts?

Evidence from the mid ocean ridge shows that polar shifts likely happen once every 200-300 thousand years (based on magma and rock formation patterns.) There are enough of these shift patterns to give evidence that the earth is indeed billions of years old. How do young earth creationists explain this?
